Schools, and all childcare providers, are being asked to continue to provide care for a limited number of children - children who are vulnerable, and children whose parents are critical to the Covid-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.
Even if you fit the description of a key worker, we ask you to consider the school’s childcare provision ONLY if you have absolutely no appropriate alternative. If children can stay safely at home, they should.
There is no requirement for key workers to take up the offer of a school place, if alternative provision can be made or working from home is an option.
For further information regarding whether you are eligible under one of these categories, please refer back to our 'Key Workers' page, or see https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision
